Pune, November 3, 2025: The Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council has suspended the license of prominent Pune-based lawyer and human rights activist for three months. The decision was announced on Monday following a review by a committee headed by .
The action was taken after Asim Sarode made controversial remarks about the during a public event. His statements were deemed disrespectful and damaging to public confidence in the judicial system.
A complaint had been filed with the Bar Council alleging that Sarode’s comments were toward constitutional institutions. The complainant claimed that his words insulted the judiciary and created distrust among citizens.
