Pune, November 3, 2025: The Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council has suspended the license of prominent Pune-based lawyer and human rights activist for three months. The decision was announced on Monday following a review by a committee headed by .

The action was taken after Asim Sarode made controversial remarks about the during a public event. His statements were deemed disrespectful and damaging to public confidence in the judicial system.

A complaint had been filed with the Bar Council alleging that Sarode’s comments were toward constitutional institutions. The complainant claimed that his words insulted the judiciary and created distrust among citizens. Despite being given an opportunity to issue a written apology on , Sarode reportedly declined to do so.
