The Supreme Court of India on Monday said the government can consider relief on all of Vodafone Idea’s adjusted gross revenue telecom (AGR) dues, CNBC-TV18 reported, sending shares of the debt-laden firm up around 10 per cent in afternoon trade.
Last week, the Supreme Court said the government was free to reconsider Vodafone Idea’s AGR dues, causing uncertainty over whether the observation applied only to the firm’s additional AGR dues or the entire amount owed.
The beleaguered firm had sought relief both on the additional AGR dues worth about ₹9500 crore and its total AGR dues of nearly ₹80000 crore, CNBC-TV18 reported.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the details of the Supreme Court’s clarification.
Vodafone did not immediately respond to a Reuters ’ request for comment.
