ASHDOWN, Ark. — According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP), an Oklahoma man has been found guilty of abuse of a corpse after dumping a body in a well in Little River County.

In December 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Chance Cathey, 35, of Idabel, and he was found guilty by a jury on Oct. 28, 2025.

ASP reports that on Jan. 2, 2024, they received reports of a dead body being left in a well along County Road 106 near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border. During their investigation, authorities found the body of Bobby Conley, 57, of Tom, Oklahoma.

It is believed Conley's body was in the well for around two weeks before being found.

Cathey was sentenced to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, according to ASP.
