PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 21-year-old man has been arrested by Providence police after he allegedly threw fireworks toward a group of people in a parking lot Saturday afternoon.

Tyreese Laurum Chet is charged with felony assault after the alleged incident at 12:27 p.m. Saturday.

According to Providence Police Department representative Kristy Dos Reis, police responded to 417 Hartford Avenue Saturday for reports of fireworks thrown toward the gathering.

Witnesses told police that the fireworks had been thrown from a nearby building.

Four people sustained minor injuries in the incident according to police, but declined ambulance transport for treatment.

Chet was taken into custody without incident, according to Dos Reis.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
