In a touching tribute to a newly retired Alaska State Trooper in Healy, the annual mass pumpkin prank on Halloween night ended up in a giant pumpkin display at his own home.
This is a longstanding tradition in Healy every Halloween. Teenagers steal pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns off porches and driveways. Then, they choose one local spot to put them all on display together.
Former Alaska State Trooper Sgt. Joel Miner didn’t have a clue he was targeted — until he woke up the day after Halloween. He spent Halloween evening at the annual Trunk ’N Treat event at Tri-Valley School, providing free tours of one of his Fat Trucks. He operates Denali Fat Truck Tours.
