A Lower Paxton police officer fatally shot a man Saturday who had a knife raised over his head and was “rapidly advancing” at the officer, according to new details from police.

The man, Junior Jean, 48, had just stabbed his wife in the face and abdomen at their apartment in the 4000 block of Fawn Drive minutes before the officer encountered him a block or two away, according to the district attorney.

The wife was rushed to a hospital with “severe wounds,” police said in a news release. Officers got a description of the man and one officer found him about 1:40 p.m. walking with the large kitchen knife in the 4200 block of Valley Road.
