: Power Minister Metbah Lyngdoh has assured citizens that the ongoing power shutdowns are temporary measures necessary for infrastructure upgrades and new scheme implementations.

Speaking to media persons on Monday, Lyngdoh explained that the shutdowns are not load shedding, but rather planned outages to activate new lines and substations.

Affected areas are informed through local headmen and sordars, he added.

The minister has taken a serious view of the issue and is confident that the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) is doing its best to minimize disruptions.

He has reviewed the situation and plans further discussions to ensure uninterrupted power supply, even during the dry season.

“We will try to ensure that there is no power cut even during the dry season,” Lyngdoh sa
