CARIBOU, Maine — A juvenile has turned himself in after a young person was reportedly stabbed during an altercation in Caribou on Friday night.

Officers responded to a report of an assault, possibly involving a stabbing, around 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 31, Caribou Police Chief Corey Saucier said in a Monday news release. When officers arrived, they determined that a group of juveniles had gotten into a fight, and one allegedly used a knife to stab another.

Police said the suspected assailant turned himself in to the department soon after the incident. The juvenile was with a parent when he turned himself in, according to police.

Saucier said this was an isolated incident and "at no time was the public in danger."
