In a major drive against illegal tobacco sales, the Special Task Force (STF) conducted surprise raids in the Infocity area of Bhubaneswar on Monday. Acting on credible information, the STF targeted shops selling gutkha, pan masala, and cigarettes near educational institutions in clear violation of public health and anti-tobacco regulations.
What Happened During the Raid
Officials raided several shops operating close to schools and colleges. Large quantities of banned gutkha and flavoured tobacco products worth several lakhs of rupees were seized. The shopkeepers were fined on the spot, and some have been issued stern warnings for flouting state and national tobacco laws.
