In a renewed effort to safeguard the globally significant congregation of Amur Falcons, the Wokha district administration has declared a temporary ‘Silence Zone’ around the Pangti roosting site.
The order, issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner Renbomo Ezung reiterated Nagaland’s recognition as the “Falcon Capital of the World,” owing what was described as the largest annual gathering of Amur Falcons at Pangti Village during October and November.
To minimise disturbances, the roosting site at Pangti has been officially declared a temporary 'Silence Zone' within a 3-kilometre radius for the duration of the migration season, it said.
