A Florida jury recommended the death penalty for a man who murdered his girlfriend because she refused to get an abortion in what prosecutors described as an "execution-style killing."

On Thursday, jurors voted 11-1 to recommend the ultimate punishment for 23-year-old Donovan L. Faison in the 2022 death of 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo in Sanford, which is about 25 miles north of Orlando, prosecutors said . He was convicted Monday of first-degree murder and the killing of an unborn child.

Prosecutors told jurors that the killing met several aggravating factors required to impose the death penalty, including the fact Faison killed a child younger than 12 while committing the capital felony of murdering Fiengo.
