Jail officials in Indiana mistakenly released the wrong inmate after identical twins were both taken into custody for separate incidents, authorities said.
According to the Marion County Sheriff's office, two brothers who are identical twins -- Darrell Austin and Daron Austin -- were in jail at the same time for separate accusations.
The department said bond was posted for Daron Austin Friday afternoon, but due to their similar features and names, "staff retrieved and processed the wrong twin, Darrell, for release."
Darrell Austin was in custody on charges of theft, criminal mischief and battery by bodily waste. It was not immediately clear what Daron Austin was in custody for.
