TOPINABEE, MI – A Michigan couple died in a house fire over the weekend, authorities said.
Cheboygan County Sheriff Todd A. Ross announced Monday that a 75-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman both died when their home caught on fire on Saturday afternoon in Topinabee.
The fire was reported around 3:07 p.m., Ross said. Upon arrival, firefighters observed that the north end of the residence was fully engulfed in flames. No one was outside the residence.
After the fire was extinguished, both residents were found deceased inside the residence; it is believed that they died due to the fire, he said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had been heating their home using a combination of electric, kerosene and propane heaters, Ross said. It was also noted that both indivi
