Khliehriat, Nov 3: A meeting between truckers and cement companies failed to resolve the dispute between the two sides over transport rates.
The Meghalaya Commercial Truck Owners and Drivers Association (MCTODA) has accused cement companies of underpaying its members but the latter claim that the government-approved transport rates are too high.
Today’s meeting was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills in Khliehriat.
MCTODA president Mokslandar Marngar said that throughout the meeting the representatives of the cement companies urged the association to end the strike against vehicles carrying cement and clinker.
