Some thoughts and observations from the weekend’s Union-RPI men’s hockey two-game ECAC Hockey series, with each team winning a game and the Garnet Chargers holding on to the Capital Skates Trophy for the regular-season series.
In the three-plus years that I have known and dealt with Union men’s hockey coach Josh Hauge, I had never seen him so upset as he was after Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Engineers at M&T Bank Center. It was Union’s first loss of the season, and the way it lost the game against an RPI team that was 0-6 to start the season was, quite frankly, inexcusable, especially with the way the Garnet Chargers played in their 4-0-1 mark to start the season.
