This rare 180 could soon be headed for your garage.
A LP400 S, painted in its original livery and producing a V-12 roar, will be going under the hammer in the Netherlands this Friday. The coveted car is a Series Two version, of which just 105 were made, and it’s powered by a 3.9-liter V-12 engine—which originally made 375 horsepower—mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Top speed was said to be almost 180 mph when it was new, but the listing says this example has a top speed of 164 mph, and goes from a stop to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds.
Those numbers won’t impress anyone who’s purchased a new car in the last 10 years, but, for the time, they were decent. The Countach is also famously impractical and a pain to drive, so the next buyer will likely be taking on a more-than-usual stewardshi
