OCEAN CITY — Plans to keep a major evacuation route dry longer during serious floods are moving forward, with improvements expected to Roosevelt Boulevard leading to the 34th Street bridge.

Cape May County plans to increase the height of the roadway leading to the 34th Street Bridge in Ocean City, an evacuation route that is prone to flooding. Work could begin late this year.
