The toll for crossing the Blue Water Bridge from Michigan to Ontario is going up Dec. 1.

The Michigan Department of Transportation, which operates the U.S. side of the international crossing, said the toll for eastbound cars will increase US$1 to US$5 as of Dec. 1.

The twin spans of the bridge over the St. Clair River connect Port Huron, Mich., with Ontario at Point Edward, Sarnia’s neighbour.

The Michigan-side toll hike “will help offset increased maintenance and operations costs, in addition to construction improvements for the BWB (Blue Water Bridge) plaza,” the state department said in a news release.

It follows a US$1 increase in the Michigan toll on Dec. 1, 2024, the department said.
