PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- To help provide support for people potentially impacted by the federal government shutdown, Geisinger announced it is contributing $275,000 to a network of Pennsylvania food banks.

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, which serves 27 counties in total, will receive some of the money, as well as the CEO Weinberg Food Bank, which serves the northeast region of the Commonwealth.

“At Geisinger, being the best means caring for one another and for the communities we serve,” Terry Gilliland, M.D., president and CEO of Geisinger, said. “These are particularly challenging times for many of our community members, so Geisinger is doing its best to help take care of our patients, members and communities.”
