The Government Railway Police (GRP) Monday booked two Central Railway engineers in connection with the June 9 Mumbra train accident in which four commuters died and nine others were injured after falling off two overcrowded local trains in Thane.

The GRP, which had investigated the accident, has blamed the incident on negligence of the two officials — a senior section engineer and a section engineer.

The accident occurred when two overcrowded local trains passed each other on a sharp curve between Diva and Mumbra stations, leading to passengers falling off the trains.
