Baramulla, Nov 03: Govt. Degree College Shopian defeated Govt. Degree College Sopore by 4 wickets to win the inaugural match of the maiden inter-college faculty cricket tournament organized by Govt. Degree College Baramulla.
Batting first after winning the toss, GDC Sopore scored 156 runs at the loss of five wickets in their 18 hours. Iqbal Ahmad was the highest scorer, scoring 87 runs in 53 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes.
In reply, GDC Shopian chased down the target with three balls to spare. Umar Rashid was the highest scorer with 37 runs. This is the first tournament organized for the faculty of colleges in Kashmir division in recent times.
