A 55-year-old man is fighting for life after being savagely attacked by his own dog inside his inner city unit in Camperdown.
Police were called to the unit in Sydney’s Inner West about 11am on Monday after neighbours reported hearing the dog owner’s screams.

Neighbours initially tried to enter the home to help the man but the Staffordshire bull terrier, which they described as a “real problem”, turned on them.
Officers wielding riot shields and dog control poles soon arrived at the scene and subdued the animal before finding the man severely bleeding from deep lacerations to both wrists, arms and chest.
He was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to undergo emergency surgery.
