Rail passengers travelling on Avanti West Coast services to Edinburgh will face disruption until later this week, as repair work gets underway after one of its trains derailed earlier today .
The train, which departed from Glasgow at 4.28am on Monday, November 3, was making its way to London Euston when it came off the tracks near Shap in Cumbria at around 6.10am.
Of the 87 people on board, which included 10 staff members, four suffered minor injuries, but nobody required further hospital treatment .
Avanti West Coast told its customers not to travel further north than Preston, Lancashire, for the rest of this evening and tomorrow.
This affects services bound for Edinburgh Waverley , which also call at Haymarket.
