Legionnaires lose twice in GOHL

The Sarnia Legionnaires scored 53 seconds into Thursday’s game and were shut out the rest of the way in an 8-1 loss to the Listowel Cyclones.

The Legionnaires (0-16-0-0) are already 16 points out of the final playoff spot in the Greater Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference.

Anton Smirnov scored for the early lead in front of 580 at Pat Stapleton Arena. Losing goalie Connor Davis allowed five goals on 25 shots and Andrew Gaulton gave up three more on 32 shots.

Jordan Visneskie, Lyndon Cabral and Hudson Wiles each scored two for the Cyclones (5-9-1-0), Ethan Fischer and Colton Henderson added singles, and Jack Bree made 21 saves.

On Wednesday, Smirnov scored twice in a 6-4 loss to the London Nationals (12-5-0-0) at the Western Fair Sports Centre.
