COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Soup kitchens and charities across the country have reported seeing larger turnouts in the days since the government shutdown.

A spokesperson for Washington Street United Methodist Church says the same is true for the church’s soup cellar.

Officials say the church serves meals to the homeless and working poor.

The church is accepting donations in order to keep the soup cellar going.
