BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The federal government will continue food stamp benefits for millions of Americans. The Trump administration said Monday that food stamp payments will go out later this month after rulings from two federal judges said they had to continue.
But because the SNAP program costs about $8 billion a month and the USDA contingency funding is only about $5 billion, people on food stamps will get only partial payments.
And what this means for states like Vermont that decided to use their own money to fill the gap is still unclear.
