The results, the first general election of Trump’s second term, will serve as a political barometer for his ambitious agenda. Victors will claim either a public endorsement or a voter rebuke of Trump’s second-term direction, according to Associated Press.

High-stakes races include governorships in Virginia and New Jersey, the New York City mayor’s contest, and a California ballot measure that could redraw congressional maps and shift control of key US House seats.
