COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sunday was Columbus’ deadliest day this year in terms of homicides. There were three in a 24-hour period. Looking Friday through Sunday, that number increased to four.

“While we had historic lows throughout the year, we know that one loss affects a community tremendously,” said Columbus Deputy Chief Justin Coleman on Monday.

Coleman provided 10TV with information on all four homicides from the weekend.

The Friday homicide happened around 8:30 p.m. near the corner of South Ohio and Frebis avenues. Coleman said a 47-year-old man was shot and later died. Police said the person believed to have committed the shooting was wearing all dark-colored clothes at the time.
