CONCORD, N.H. —

With the federal government shutdown poised to become the longest ever, members of New Hampshire's congressional delegation said Monday that the impasse is having an impact on Granite Staters.

As U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, D-New Hampshire, delivered donations to a food pantry in Laconia on Monday afternoon, he said that on average, 10% of the state's population will experience food insecurity over the next year.

"The resources provided by the (Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties) are really important to make sure that we're meeting that need, closing those gaps, but certainly, all of these programs are going to be under great stress if the SNAP program isn't replenished," he said.
