COLUMBUS, Ohio — Reverend Joseph Stanley Jr. believes in Columbus, especially the South Linden community where his church, Greater Twelfth Missionary Baptist, is located.
"There are some really good things that are happening in Linden," he said.
But to keep that positive momentum going, he said the community has to address some uncomfortable truths.
"We've seen an uptick in certain violent crime statistics. Is that fair to say?" asked 10 Investigates Reporter Rochelle Alleyne.
"Absolutely," said Stanley.
He told 10 Investigates that he witnessed a jump in crimes connected to guns, truancy and domestic violence.
And the numbers from Columbus Division of Police Precinct 5 back that up:
2023: CPD handled 382 domestic violence reports;
2024: CPD handled 445 domestic violence reports;
