LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - In the KHSAA Class A State Cross Country meet, two mountain athletes placed inside the top 10.
Harlan sophomore Tanner Daniels finished third, running a 5K in 16:11.87.
Leslie County Senior Chance Collins was not far behind, finishing in seventh place with a 16:57.58 5K.
With the seventh place finish, Collins made school history by securing Leslie County’s first ever podium appearance.
Coach Christopher Roberts praised all of the work that Collins has put into his craft.
“I am very proud of Chance for his historic finish at the state race,” Roberts stated. “It is very well deserved after all the extraordinary work he puts into the sport everyday. It has been an honor and privilege to have coached such a hardworking athlete and understanding person.”
