WWE CCO Triple H recently broke down the fundamental differences between professional wrestling and mixed martial arts, calling the two presentations “total opposites” while noting that MMA’s biggest successes often rely on WWE’s core principles.
During an appearance on the All-In Podcast , Triple H was asked if WWE feels pressure to become more like MMA. “I think they’re total opposites,” he stated. “MMA is competition, that’s what it’s based on.”
He explained that WWE is a storytelling-first business. “We don’t write the shows based on ‘that’ll be a great match.’ We write it on the stories that we can create. The protagonist, the antagonist, how does that work with each other?”
