AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A 51-year-old man from San Marcos was sentenced to life in prison after he was found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to a press release.

The jury found Javier Ortega Gonzalez guilty after evidence revealed he abused a child over the course of several years. That child was around 5-years-old when the abuse started, the release said.

Additionally, the state provided more evidence showing Gonzalez had been physically abusive to several children and adults throughout the years. The jury sentenced him to life in prison, and according to the release, he will not be eligible for parole.
