More than 30mm of rain has hit Melbourne in the past 24 hours, with another 1-10mm forecast for Cup day, including showers in the afternoon for the day’s feature race at midday (WA time).

Al Riffa remains the $7.50 favourite for the race as jockey Mark Zahra eyes his third Melbourne Cup triumph in the space of four years, while the likes of Half Yours ($8), Presage Nocturne ($9) and Valiant King ($10) are not far behind in the market.
