TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- Daniel Armbruster with AAA recently sat down with KETK and discussed how the ongoing government shutdown could affect Thanksgiving travel, if TSA and other federal employees stop working due to unpaid status.
Armbruster said the uncertainty might lead some air travelers to change plans, possibly driving instead of flying or staying home until Congress reaches an agreement. He advised air travelers to be patient, flexible and to have a backup plan, especially if their destination is within driving distance.
For those who choose to drive, Armbruster recommended leaving early, taking breaks every 100 miles or two hours, and avoiding peak travel times, particularly Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Day itself is typically the lightest t
