WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WFSB) - Police are searching for a driver who fled from a McDonald’s parking lot early Friday morning, nearly striking an officer.

The incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the McDonald’s at 195 Ella Grasso Turnpike while a Windsor Locks police officer was conducting a routine business check.

The officer noticed a man in a parked car who appeared to be passed out from possible drug use, police said.

A woman exited the McDonald’s and yelled at the man that police were there. Police say the man suddenly woke up and did not listen to officer commands.

According to police, the man frantically accelerated his car and drove several laps around the building at a high rate of speed, almost striking the officer.
