John Houton, a long-time City Hall attorney, today sued Mayor Wu, the city's chief lawyer, Secretary of State Bill Galvin and others over what he says is a conspiracy to keep him off the ballot for mayor in two elections and unconstitutional city ordinances that make it far harder to run for mayor in Boston than in any other city in the state.
In his suit, filed in US District Court in Boston, Houton, in-house counsel to the city treasury department, seeks to block the 2025 election for mayor - with some ballots already cast through early and mail-in voting - and to have a judge order Galvin to call a new election within 60 days with his name on it.
