A small dog limped slowly through the middle of a busy California street, struggling to dodge cars as she tried to find safety.

Despite being frightened and in pain, she seemed to hold onto one fragile hope — that someone kind would stop and help her.

That hope became reality when Ivy and Jaina Spagis, founders of Cats of San Bernardino , a local animal rescue, spotted her from their car. Without hesitation, they pulled over and ran to her side.
