BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- It is day 33 of the government shutdown and SNAP benefits slowly are beginning to run out. On Monday at the Kern County Fairgrounds, the California National Guard and CAPK worked to make sure that families in Kern County are fed and has some food to put on the table.

Marcos Moralez came to get food from Monday's drive.

"Right now we're struggling because the shutdown is going on, especially these kids right here are struggling. That's why, thank god for these CAPK programs always here for us and everything," he said.
