Valley cities are requesting $138.3 million in annual transit funding from the federal government.
The request for Federal Transit Administration grant funds was made last week by the city of Phoenix, which is the designated recipient for the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale Urbanized Area and submits all grant applicants on behalf of local governments in the region.
“I’m just happy that we’re getting federal transit funding, knowing that this will keep our buses and our trains moving and running,” Phoenix Councilmember Laura Pastor said as the council voted to approve the request on Oct. 29.
