WILSON, N.Y. — According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, on Monday afternoon at around 2:00 p.m., a sheriff's deputy saw smoke coming from the chimney of a house at 3564 Harris Avenue in the town of Wilson.

The deputy attempted to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher. After an unsuccessful try, the deputy contacted the homeowner, who was then able to evacuate the house.

Crews from the Ransomville and South Wilson volunteer fire companies then responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire.

The house did sustain smoke and fire damage, no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit.
