The City of Melville has launched a new way to keep residents informed and connected.
The new system, called Voyent Alert!, is a mass communication tool that allows the city to send timely alerts and community updates directly to residents through an app, text, email, or voice call.
After a successful internal trial with city staff and council, the system is now ready for public use. It will be used for both emergency notifications—like severe weather, fires, or floods—and everyday updates, such as road closures, water advisories, snow removal, and community events.
Public engagement began this month with several open houses where residents can learn more and get help signing up. The first session took place over the weekend with more events scheduled throughout November at Melville Hou
