The City of Melville’s proposal to expand its boundaries took center stage during a public hearing Monday night at City Hall.

The plan calls for the annexation of several parcels of land and adjoining roadways from the Rural Municipality of Cana, covering areas in Townships 22 and 23, Range 6 — including parts of Range Roads 2062 and 2063, and Township Roads 230 and 231.

City officials say the expansion would support long-term growth, improve service delivery, and bring major infrastructure — including the new landfill, expanded wastewater treatment plant, and municipal airport — under city jurisdiction.
