LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she is concerned that delayed, partial SNAP payments "will not be enough."
Monday, officials with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) told a federal judge the administration would provide partial food stamp benefits for November following multiple judges ruling SNAP must be funded with the agency's emergency fund.
USDA officials say the fund totals around $.4.65 billion -- but November benefits are expected to cost anywhere from $8 billion to $9 billion. While the federal judges indicated that the federal government could use other funding sources to fill the gap, USDA officials say they will not do so, instead saying the agency only has enough money to provide the 1 in 8 Americans that receive SNAP benefi
