SAN ANTONIO — Two officers were hurt while they were detaining a suspect who fled from a major accident Monday night, police say.

Officers were dispatched for a major accident around the intersection of Culebra Road and Westwood Loop just after 8 p.m.

When they arrived on scene, witnesses told them that one individual had fled the scene of the accident. That's when officers went to try to detain him for leaving the scene.

Police say a struggle then took place, but the suspect was eventually detained.

Police say the two officers sustained minor injuries.

It's still under investigation if the suspect was intoxicated or not or what charges he faces.

Nobody was hurt during the initial accident.
