Jackson Police are investigating a Monday evening shooting in the Brookhollow subdivision after a passenger allegedly tried to rob the driver while a child was in the car.
WLBT reports that police say the incident happened a little before 6:30 p.m. Shots were fired during the attempted robbery, and the victim was struck twice. Officers found the victim sitting inside the vehicle; the wounds were described as non-life-threatening, and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The child in the vehicle was not injured.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred at a different location than where the vehicle was found. No suspect information has been released.
