JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County parents are weighing in on the future of their children's education.
Monday night, District 5 School Board Member Reginald Blount and Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier hosted a town hall to discuss what’s working and what’s not when it comes to the district’s finances and enrollment.
According to school leaders, fewer students are filling Duval County classrooms; this declining enrollment is forcing school leaders to take a hard look at how to move forward.
Parents like Leesa Askew said they came to Monday night's district 5 town hall to be heard and to hear the facts about what’s next for schools in their district.
“I thought he was very transparent and it really brought things to light,” said Leesa Askew, parent of a student at James Weldon John
