JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - Several families are grappling with changes to Indiana’s child care voucher program, which will leave many of them without options moving forward.

Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration announced last week that it will no longer be giving out new child care vouchers for low-income families until at least 2027.

On top of that, rates for those already on vouchers have been cut, making it more difficult for those families to pay for their child care.

“That’s going to hurt a lot of families,” said Alexis Lee, who has two boys who attend Child Care Partners in Jeffersonville.

Lee was hoping her five-month-old would be able to join his brothers next year, and had placed him on the waiting list for a voucher.
