When Elton John sang that "sorry seems to be the hardest word", he was probably not thinking about the future rollout of the ACT's MyWay+ public transport ticketing system.

In love, and in politics, "sorry" is an equally loaded term — and it's one that's been haunting ACT Transport Minister Chris Steel.

Mr Steel was censured for the bungled rollout of the MyWay+ network last week, after a committee tasked with holding an inquiry into the debacle released its final report.

The $64 million upgrade was plagued with issues, including problems with its website, app and ticketing stations.

It was also revealed the personal details of public transport users could be accessed on the internet before and after its launch.
