US authorities have announced that an Indian-origin truck driver, Jashanpreet Singh, was not driving while intoxicated when he caused a crash in California last month that resulted in three deaths. This is contrary to initial reports. The case, however, remains a grossly negligent homicide.

Who is Jashanpreet Singh?

Jashanpreet Singh, 21, of Yuba City, was arrested on October 21 under suspicion of ‘driving under the influence' (DUI). He was subsequently charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence as well as DUI causing injury in the multi-vehicle crash.
